Bennett and Stinespring, Together at Last

چکیده
We present a universal construction that relates reversible dynamics on open systems to arbitrary closed systems: the restriction affine completion of monoidal category quotiented by well-pointedness. This categorical encompasses both quantum channels, via Stinespring dilation, and classical computing, Bennett's method. Moreover, in these two cases, we show how our can be essentially 'undone' further construction. shows mixed theory computation rest entirely foundations.

Lexical Semantics and Model Theory: Together at Last?
We discuss the model theory of two popular approaches to lexical semantics and their relation to transcendental logic.
متن کاملTogether at Last: Trade Costs, Demand Structure, and Welfare
International trade, like many other branches of applied theory, has made enormous progress in recent decades by building on a central insight of Dixit and Stiglitz (1977): a taste for variety, the essential foundation for a theory of monopolistic competition, can be modeled parsimoniously using a conventional utility function with convex indifference curves defined over the quantities of all p...
متن کاملSensor Data Provenance: SSNO and PROV-O Together At Last
This paper presents an alignment between the W3C Provenance Working Group’s recommended ontology (PROV-O) and the W3C Semantic Sensor Networks Incubator Group’s ontology (SSNO). The alignment views PROV-O as an upper ontology which is extended with SSNO concepts and properties. This allows representation of observation details and sensor deployments that are not possible in the SSNO alone, and ...
متن کاملVann Bennett: How ankyrin holds it all together
P ick any animal cell, and chances are you'll fi nd a protein called ankyrin somewhere under the plasma membrane. Vann Bennett fi rst discovered ankyrin (1, 2) as the anchor that connects the anion exchanger to the spectrin-based membrane skeleton in erythrocytes. Ankyrin is a member of a family of adaptors that perform similar roles for multiple membrane transporters as well as cell adhesion m...
متن کاملRelaxed Operator Fusion for In-Memory Databases: Making Compilation, Vectorization, and Prefetching Work Together At Last
In-memory database management systems (DBMSs) are a key component of modern on-line analytic processing (OLAP) applications, since they provide low-latency access to large volumes of data. Because disk accesses are no longer the principle bottleneck in such systems, the focus in designing query execution engines has shifted to optimizing CPU performance. Recent systems have revived an older tec...
